This is a great podcast that explains the XYZ Theory. Motivation is so important for a manager to understand! Theory Z is definitely one that I hope to implement in the future. Great podcast!

I learned about this theory in another class that I had in the past. I actually did a paper about these theories. Dr. Ricardo does a great job with taking a complex topic and being able to explain it in very easy terms. Theory X is the past and doesn’t work very well in real life business. Anyone who still uses Theory X will not survive the future. This is just my opinion. This is a great, condensed explanation of these theories.

Out of all three theories, the ideal and more modern one of them is Theory Z. Theory Z is more positive and effective. Theory Z emphasizes on teamwork and having the best interests of your employees. Theory X is the worst theory, this theory motivates through threats and cares only for the money they are making. Theory Y is positive as well, if you want to have good performance and results theory Y and Z are the way to go, always empower and support your staff or employees.

MAN 4442 EP 15. I agree with Theory Z. Most people want to feel included in the process. They want to use their training to make the tough decisions also not just the small unimportant ones. If they feel they are valued by management they will take great pride in their work.

Great podcast, I have really learned a lot of what good qualities should be found in leaders and just in general to make a good contribution to society. I think that as our society continues to progress some of this theories can be outdated as new generations have caused managements to evolve as well.

Barbara Creasy extra credit-I think Theory X is used by managers who have limited people skills. While it may work, it will likely not continue in the long term. Eventually employees get frustrated and leave the position. If the manager continues with this style, employee turnover will become a pattern.

This podcast does an excellent job of explaining Theory XYZ and how it applies to different functions of an organization. I learned now it is used in different organizations as referring to managers and staff. Motivation can have a soft or hard approach. Motivation is what controls the behavior of the employee and their performance.

Extra Credit-I don't agree with theory X. That can make the employee stressful and can reduce their output. Managers who follow theory Y is more positive in a work environment. When work is fun it makes employees feel more comfortable within their job. I think theory Z would be most effective at an organization. Employees want to be trusted and be empowered. When it comes to work, every employee thrives on being wanted and working along side their manager.

I don’t believe in theory X that is the worst management style. I would not work for a manager who I believes like that. I do believe that people like to work if they have purpose and are not just motivated by money. If I’m miserable at work I don’t care how much I am paid. I would not stay. I work for a manager who is more like a theory Y and I enjoy coming into work. Theory Z is very interesting and I like that the managers trust their employees and coach them.

Within the subject of management, it is better to be a “theory Z” type manager. Managers using theory z trust their employees in the work place. As a manager utilizing theory z, teamwork must be used in order to achieve success. I feel as though theory z creates a better work environment overall because of the need for teamwork, everyone feels involved and important.
