MAN3303 - After listening to this podcast I feel that a lot of your higher up leaders who basically sent behind a desk all day are primarily theory x. Your leaders who are doing the actual work and between theory Y and Z. Theory Z is probably the best way to be because employees will be more willing to do a great job knowing that you are all apart of the same team.

I feel like I am more a part of Theory Y. I would like to be more a part of Theory Z because it is more on teamwork and trust.

Definitely theory Z is the way to go. You want people to be cooperative and provide feedback.

The theory that helped me the most was the X theory because it is a more modern version of the Y theory and is not as destructive and negative as the X theory. The aspect I find the most intriguing about the Y theory is how trusting and loyal managers and employees are with one another. Mangers trust the capacities of the workers and play more of a coach role to encourage employees to make good workplace decisions. If employees believe that managers care about them then performance is glowing!

I would have to agree with Sandy’s assessment. Those in flavor of Theory X are pretty much bullies and only care about the money. Those in favor of Theory Y seem to be a bit more on the coddling the employee side. However, those who favor Theory Z, have the better mix between management and the employee. I truly feel that it’s the optimum way to go.

This pocast was very interesting. Theory X is very sadly true in too many cases. It is sad to think that people only work for money when our jobs are where we spend the majority of our time. The Y theory is how I wish most people were. We should all go to work to do our best and provide the product or service that our organization provides to others. Theory Z is the best combination of employees working for themselves as well as the company. Cooperation is key to success!

McGregor’s theories of x and y introduced in 1960 explains the role of the manager is to assist employees and resources in productivity towards the company. Theory x covers the personality that assumes the worst of most people and they haves to be coaxed into working. I’d disagree extremely with this theory.

Great podcast. In management XYZ are theories of human motivation and how human behavior is a factor in productivity. Great podcast to keep in mind while motivating staff.

another great podcast on how motivation is directly related to the context in which working conditions arise for employees. Theory X and Y and how motivation shows up for people in the workplace is everything!
