After listening to this topic, I realized that my current job was formed through job design. I was hired to work in a medical billing position, but through the years more responsibilities were added as I excelled in my job and showed management that I was capable. As a result of the sudden loss of the prior manager and job design, I have been working for the past six months as the interim practice manager with great success.

The concept described is something I know for sure to be true. My boss, who is a lawyer, has practiced this concept with me (the babysitter) by giving me more responsibilities over time, and not really telling me what to do so much anymore. Also, her mode of encouraging me is without failure telling me that she trusts me, and I cannot tell you how much it makes me feel confident at and truly love my job!

Wonderful episode. I agree that tailoring a job to fit the employee is best for the employee as well as the employer. The employee feels that he or she has mastered something and that he or she is important and necessary. It make sa better use of the workforce already in place, so that additional employees do not need to be hired. I believe this will create a happier work environment where everyone is productive.

I think that this is an excellent explanation on how job design can lead to a more productive and happy employee. Tailoring a job to a employee empowers them and provides a level of autonomy. These are tips that I will try to keep in mind in my future endeavors.

The concept of job autonomy is key in my opinion. We all have it in ourselves to do things our way. This can be positive ( when management allows for job autonomy as long as results are effective). Too little autonomy can be negative factor in a work environment because it undermines employees sense of achievement and impact when working. No one wants to be babied in the workplace!

Very informative podcast! Giving the employee the chance to take control and make wise decisions really makes them feel more connected to their job. Making the employees job more specialized makes it easier for the manager and the employee at the same time. It gives the employee the ability to focus and put forth their best effort into it and eventually helping the organization.

Job autonomy is really important, and a win win for the employee and employer! Both of my current jobs have a lot of autonomy in them and allow me to thrive and figure out unique solutions in my own time and struggle through them. -Mathew Spinosa

I love the idea of making the job more specialized so the employee can truly thrive in their position. The domino effect that this has is impactful! I also liked the description of autonomy and empowerment and how employees will want more responsibility when its apparent that they are trusted.

It is so important for employees to feel that their work makes a difference. In this podcast, you provide how a company can create a job specifically for an individual and their strengths. This will make the employee own and master their position.

Great episode. I find these podcasts to be equally inspirational as they are informative. Set your employees up to be empowered by their own expertise. I have never had a job that was tailored specifically to me and, surprise, surprise, I have never had a job I didn't hate. Lol? 😭 This episode make a valid point; keep your employees happy, empowered and motivated and you will see an increase in efficiency. Sounds like a win win to me.
