Miceli - MAN4442. I enjoy the thought of not having the person fit the job, but rather the job fit the person. Job specialization that specifies a greater focus to achieving results is very important when filling a position. This allows employees to specialize in one thing rather than being mediocre at a bunch of different tasks. In this example of HR, it is important to note the different aspect of skill sets from each person that help make a top notch department.

Job design truly allows staff to become experts in their respective positions. Permitting staff to set a personalized routine inwhich performance and quality can be enhanced. Thus, completion of goals and tasks feel personal tapping into their emotional drive.

Job enrichment increases the employees motivation and creates more drive. With job enrichment an employee can feel connected to their job. One day I will leave my retail job to do bigger and better things in life. I realize job enrichment is important to feel better about work and to make employees feel they are a part of the progress of the company.

After listening to this topic, I realized that my current job was formed through job design. I was hired to work in a medical billing position, but through the years more responsibilities were added as I excelled in my job and showed management that I was capable. As a result of the sudden loss of the prior manager and job design, I have been working for the past six months as the interim practice manager with great success.

Excellent episode! I really enjoyed learning about job design because it answered many of my questions about why UPS (where I currently work) is structured. Job design allows the organization to be organized. Empowering the employee is one of the benefits of job design. Job specialization, job enlargement, and job enrichment all connect to provide a job design that aids in any organization’s success!

Job design is an excellent way to utilize your resources most efficiently. By creating the job for the person they are able to fill the position with confidence and benefit the company with their skill set. Job design is motivating and empowering.

Giving the employees the opportunity to take control of how they perform there jobs should be a priority for businesses. The 5 examples that you gave should be implemented at businesses to increase productivity and motivation. Being given more of an opportunity to take control of my job always gives me a self-motivational boost. Thank you for this great information.
