Thalia Tobon - MAN 3240 The podcast relates to job design. The podcast provides great insight on job design and how you need to firm the job in order to fit the employee that was hired. It is important to work together as the manager and the new employee to create a great working environment. However, companies need to hire employees that know how to effectively and efficiently. It is also important to make employees feel valued by creating job enrichment.

This was a great episode and I definitely see autonomy as being important in the workplace. Being provided with autonomy in the workplace can make an employee feel important and to see that they are truly able to have a positive effect on the workplace. In my workplace I am provided with autonomy to help customers with their concerns which made this very relatable.

Interesting and accurate points on job descriptions in the workplace. Employees feel they need to fit a box, when in reality, if they are a good fit, positions should be tailored to the employees. You make some great points about how this can boost employee moral and productivity.

MAN3240 - Job Design is a very critical part of efficiently hiring and supporting employees - especially in areas of motivation and job performance. I enjoyed this episode and plan on sharing some of these ideas with my team.

MAN3303-This episode taught me that jobs in today’s day-and-age are not so cookie cutter, they can be molded to fit individuals skills and traits. When designing jobs to fit individuals you are making sure that the individual either has high potential, extremely qualified, or an existing expert at completing the specified jobs task at hand, which can create great overall change to productivity and performance. Job design makes employees feel more in tune with their job and much more motivated.

My takeaway from this podcast is it is good to have a good job design. In order to do that, I must divide the tasks that need to be done to complete a job in separately and assign them to a certain employee. The goal is to complete tasks and reduce the stress and overload that the employee feels, which would allow for a successful business.

Creating a business started by his job design. They have specific tasks to follow and make sure whoever they hire if it’s the job rather than trying to make the job fit the person. There must be requirements on how the outcome will be. Managers must make sure they will get maximum productivity. But having employees specialized in a specific position it will make the job more efficient.

The big take away for me was, In order to have employees feel more connected to their job we can essentially design the job by tailoring it to the employee called Job Design. I also believe empowering employees is super important. Employees want to feel like more than just a worker, they want to feel trusted and feel like their voice matters and that they are vital to the company. -Rebecca Torres MAN3303

I work for a small startup which has grown significantly in the last six months. To accommodate the growth, new employees are joining our team. This has caused my position to experience job enlargement. This is very satisfying for me as my manager shows the faith he has in me and my abilities. It definitely increases my loyalty to the company.
