Feeling happy helps me to have more patience and helps me not to get angry avrò whatever problems I am facing. Like my children always say happy makes them feel more kind and caring towards others.

What stood out for me was that people seek to be happy but do not always achieve it. I think it is all within your attitude and perspective of life. Happiness is a habit that we have to make. One of my personal favorite saying that I remind myself when I am having negative feelings is “it’s just a bad day, not a bad life.”

It was very relevant to relate the ideas of the Dalai Lama to finding happiness in the workplace. It would make sense to think that we should seek after things that make us feel happy, in order to feel happy. We live in a secular world, and in order to live purposefully, our peace needs to be rooted in something deeper than the world’s shifting circumstances.

The most relevant point Dr. Ricardo makes is about our perception. Perception is the greatest influencer of our happiness. I have always struggled with my own perception but as of late the struggle has been amplified. I never knew I had control issues till I realized some of my friends and family do not share the same care perspectives for others as I do. Though I cannot control the opinions of others, I can make better choices in the content I consume. Happy content=positive perception

The point that stood with me the most is that happiness is a choice. I haven't done much reading on buddhism itself, but I have read a few books authored by Tibetan monks. They all came to the same agreement that happiness is a choice we make in our lives.

I agree that having a happy outlook on the day will help with the outcome. I have coached a few of my employees on this very thing. You can not control the direction given to you sometimes by your supervisor. My outlook is to keep it as positive as possible and do your best no matter what.

This podcast helped me by realizing that feeling happiness is our own choice, it’s a way of thinking, a habit we just form. We can form this happiness by finding areas in our lives that produce happiness and pursue them. This advice about happiness will remind me to chase what makes me happy not just in my personal life but also work life. I have the power to changes to better fit my happiness by asking myself simple questions like what makes me joyful, peaceful, content, or cheerful.

Worldview is important for a happier life, for sure, but it all depends on which one. Forcing yourself to be happy is like negating all your other emotions. Sure, you can choose to have a good attitude about something, but is that happiness?

I enjoyed this episode, sometimes it can be easy to forget why it’s important to be happy and seek joy in our daily lives. Setting goals is such a great tool to feel accomplished and in turn joy/happiness, I think that specially during these times of high socia stress we should make the effort to actively search for things that makes us happy.

Setting goals to be happy is a good thing to do. Being happy makes everyday things and work more enjoyable. I will be looking to make myself happier to relieve stress and be better! Thanks!
