This podcast was a great continuation of the remaining 4 habits of Covey’s 7 habits, and the habit that stood out the most to me was the final habit of Sharpening the Saw. Sometimes I feel that we may find ourselves trying to work through things without really taking the time to reflect on the tools that we are utilizing in order to do so.

I appreciate that self reflection is highlighted throughout the podcast. This is something I need to work on personally along with strengthening professional relationships. I did enjoy the overview of this book, thank you Dr.Ricardo.

All I have to say is well done! Yet another brief but informational podcast on the last few habits Covey talks about. The emotional bank account is a topic I feel is extremely relevant today — we all need to fill people’s bank accounts with emotional deposits.

This podcast is a great reminder to apply the principles into our daily life. This helps to aid our overall productivity, communication with others and strengthen relationships. Especially habit 7- sharpen the saw. Taking time to care for ourselves helps us take care of others. Self care is not selfish, it is necessary!

Habit 5 is the most interesting one to me - listening to others in order to understand is so important. It is often to easy to put up your defense and rebuttal before digesting and thinking critically about what was just said. Take a moment to pause and think before responding. Great stuff!!

MAN3303-What stuck out to me the most in this podcast was the 7th habit about sharping the saw. In this habit covey outlines 4 dimensions where people should constantly stop and reflect and they are: physical, mental, social and emotional, and spiritual. By focusing on fine-tuning these 4 dimensions I will be more effective and successful, not only at work but also in my personal life. Self care is more important then one would think!

Seek first to understand then be understood was my favorite as well. People tend to speak more than they listen and then not getting an understanding of the conversation. It is often times very difficult to talk to people like this. I’ve always been the listening type of person I observe and take mental notes before reacting. I want to always be sure I understand what is happening before acting or responding carelessly.

Reflecting over one’s life is one of the most important aspects of change! Covey keenly refers to this as “sharpening the saw.” If we all reflected over the activities in our life with a good purpose, rather than making the same mistakes repeatedly and without an intentional thought, we would be undergoing change and improvement instead of stagnation.

feel as though that throughout my life I have been contributing to people’s emotional bank account, but not without withdrawing from mine and//or someone else’s emotional bank account. I do not really have a good habit of listening. I can’t focus on one thing at a time.
