Awesome podcast! This episode taught me five ways managers and employees can collectively design the job to maximize employee engagement and productivity. One way is through job specialization. Job specialization requires each employee to focus on a specific characteristic, making employees more knowledgeable. Job enrichment is another way to maximize employee productivity. Giving workers more responsibility will empower them to be more productive.

I agree with a lot of the points within this episode. I myself find more enjoyment with my job when it is a specific area that I’ve come to understand strongly. I do get that sense of “Oh, this is MY area of expertise” and as stated in the episode, it does led to me wanting to make more of the specific job decisions and have support from my manager. Being trusted by my manager to do my own things because they are efficient to the job and common goal definitely empowers me.

This is so interesting, I agree is so much enjoyable when we can have a sense of empowerment when performing our jobs. One of the main things I enjoy from my current position is how I have been able to feel empower and the level of autonomy I have from management.

Great tips on job design! I like the tips you gave on working together to create a job for an individualized person. I can relate to this because this approach is the way that my boss runs his business. My biggest takeaway is the importance of job enrichment by bringing in an employee’s interest into the job. Your podcast is very motivating in learning how to create a job that builds engagement with employees.

I always learn so much after listening to your podcasts! By increasing employee motivation or enrichment you are increasing their sense of personal ownership. By using job specialization, job enrichment, and job enlargement, you are increasing efficiency in the company! Great things to know!

the biggest takeaway I have from this episode is that the more motivated the employee is the more job ownership they have and this can lead to job satisfaction and increased productivity from that employee. This can be done in a lot of ways but the one that stood out to me was specific training that can increase confidence in the employee.
