Great comparison between the Japanese business approach to the American business approach. I feel that most employees begin with a goal of excellence in the work however many employees trade of the goal of excellence for the goal of productivity. You can produce a poor quality item and still reach goals of the company. It seems we have become less interested in a great product, whether that is a tangible product or a process , and more focused on churning something out than producing quality

excellence is absolutely a choice. People must ask themselves if they want to be average, good, great, or excellent. Too many people settle for average and good. Being great is a great thing! However, striving for excellence is what the best business people in the world do. It takes sacrifices. Being an excellent person, employee, friend, spouse, parent, coach, teacher, and any other kid of title in the world. It all comes down to one thing. Whether you want to do that excellent thing... or not

Dr. Ricardo, very informative podcast. I agree, America focused too much on pinching pennies that they lost focus on quality and creativity. I found it very interesting when you started speaking about “excellence”. I believe excellence is something we can choose to do at any point. “Excellence is a way of life”. Awesome podcasts!

Excellence is a choice, or not. This was another great podcast. Tom Peters 18 E's we're awesome and I need to put some of those into action in some of my upcoming meetings. The podcast pointed out choices that we've made here in our country that have benefited other countries in providing them opportunity for innovation, creativity and excellence in the products they manufacture, and surpassing us. In organizational management requires concern for excellence.
